psychobabble and my initial interpretation

|
"Psychobabble"

How did you get this number?
I can't get my head around you
Of course you're not coming over
Snap out of it
You're not making any sense

You couldn't be more wrong, darling
I never gave out these signs
You misunderstood meaning
Snap out of it
I'm not falling for this one

If love is surrender
Then whose war is it anyway?

Do just what I tell you
And no one will get hurt
Don't come any closer
Cause I don't know how long I can hold my heart in two

If you think that it's so damn easy
Then what do you need me for?
Just look at the state of you
Babe, snap out of it
You're not listening to this

And just for once could you
Let me finish my sentence?

Do just what I tell you
And no one will get hurt
Don't come in any closer
Cause I don't know how long I can hold my heart in two

Make no sudden movements
And no one need get hurt
You're making me nervous
If you know what's good for me
Why would I be loving you?

Now, I've had it up to here
Don't ever try that again
Why are you so quiet so suddenly?
Go on, I bet
You're just dying to try me

Do just what I tell you
And no one will get hurt
Don't come any closer
Cause I don't know how long I can hold my heart in two

So, what do we do now?
What do we do now?
What do we do now?
What do we do now?

I have contemplated what these lyrics mean for quite some time. I think the protagonist is being pursued romantically either by an ex or someone new. He's just jumping the gun, wanting to be involved with her. She, however, is cautious and does not trust the guy.

My translation:
what would even make you think of pursuing me? I've given you no signs of interest. You, perhaps, assumed that by me not doing anything, that I was trying to tell you something. But, really, I just don't want you. And you can't trick me into loving you by trying to make it seem that me not doing anything was encouragement for you to pursue me. Listen to me. Don't pursue me because I'll just end up with a broken heart, and I don't know how long I could stand that. You're so sure of yourself and us. You're trying to make it sound like a relationship would be so easy--you've got everything planned out. But if you've got it all planned out and life is so simple, why do you need me? But it's not so simple. Look how crazy you are acting already! Nothing I'm saying is having any effect on you. You're not listening to me at all. You won't even let me finish what I'm saying by cutting me off, which shows you aren't listening.

Trust me. Stay away and we'll avoid heartbreak; I'm trying to avoid heartbreak.
Don't pursue me so quickly and with such conviction and we'll avoid heartbreak. You scare me because you're so quick. If you know what my best course of action is and got it all figured out, why would I have reason to love you?

Don't ever try to pursue me again. Wait, why aren't you talking anymore? Did it finally sink in? You don't want to pursue me anymore? Well, now that that's settled, I kind of do like you. So what do we do because when you try to run the show I don't like you and I'm scared, but when you don't I do like you.
