Darren and I's first layover was in Detroit. Only more than 24 hours to go!

The first night we arrived we checked in at the SDA Guesthouse and almost straight away went to sleep. The next day we visited the
Kazuri Bead Factory. The business was set up in order to give single mothers a job.

Next we visited the
David Sheldrick animal orphanage for elephants and rhinos. This little elephant's tail and ear were attacked by a lion or hyena...I forget. The guys standing with the animals are their caregivers. They take the place of parents and spend 24-7 with them. They even have beds in the animals' pens!
The rhino kept charging everyone. It was super cute.
Rhino: the Red Bull of Africa
Thanks to George we had endless amounts of Mars candy products
